African Footballer of the Year 2011 shortlist
RUSSIAN ROULETTE ... Samuel Eto'o

Samuel Eto'o, Anzhi and Cameroon

Samuel Eto'o's year will be remembered for his mega-bucks move to Russian side Anzhi Makhatchkala - reportedly making him the highest paid footballer in the world.

But Eto'o actually had one of the best years of his career last season, scoring 21 goals for Inter Milan in Serie A and a record high 37 in all competitions

He put in a match-winning performance in the Champions League away at Bayern Munich to help Inter reach the quarter-finals and scored two goals in the Italian Cup final where Inter beat Palermo 3-1.

The 30-year-old Cameroon legend has scored three goals in five games for new club Anzhi and he will be in contention to win his fifth African Player of the Year crown.
