African Footballer of the Year 2011 shortlist
GUNNER ... Gervinho

Gervinho, Manchester City and Ivory Coast

GERVINHO joined Arsenal in a £10.7million move this summer after helping Lille to their first league title in 56 years.

The Ivorian scored 15 league goals and weighed in with 10 assists as Lille went on to win the league and cup double.

The 24-year-old had a mixed start to his career in England, getting sent off on his Premier League debut against Newcastle for a slap on Joey Barton.

But he has impressed for the Gunners after returning from his three-match ban and scored his first league goal in the loss at Blackburn.

Gervinho was the second top scorer in the African Nations qualifiers with three goals for the Ivory Coast.
