We’re about to see a very different side of Abbie Cornish. The energetic young Aussie actress first came to our attention as “the other woman” in the Ryan Phillippe-Reese Witherspoon split. But after her award-baiting turn in Jane Campion’s Bright Star, Cornish proved to be just that -- a bright star whose confidence and poise has all the makings of a future Oscar winner. Hold that thought. Before Cornish resumes her quest to Winsletian prestige, she’ll take a pit stop in the demented, hyper-stylized world of Zack Snyder. Next year Cornish stars alongside a stable of fellow “it girls” in the madcap director’s highly anticipated fantasy-action flick Sucker Punch (or as Snyder calls it, “Alice in Wonderland with machine guns”).
