Dominic Solanke 'so excited' to play for Klopp and Liverpool: I want to reach my potential

Dominic Solanke is excited to get started at new club Liverpool.

The former Chelsea striker spoke for the first time today about his Bosman move to Anfield.

Solanke admits the presence of manager Jurgen Klopp was a big factor.

"(I'm) so excited. Every time I'm seen him so he's always so enthusiastic and passionate so I think that's what you need as a manager so I'm really looking forward to working with him. As a young player you just want to reach your full potential so to have good players around you and a good manager to help that will be really good."

"I just want to make an impact really. Hopefully when I get my opportunity I can take it and help the team."

Solanke arrives a World Cup winner with the U20s, where he also won the Ballon d'Or as the tournament's best player.

"It was amazing. When the final whistle went in the final I was so happy that we'd won it and as I was lining up to get the team trophy I was told I'd got the Golden Ball as well so my mood just took off again after that, so it was a good achievement."

Often played behind the striker in Korea to facilitate the use of Everton's Dominic Clavert-Lewin, Solanke reiterated that he sees his best position as a number nine himself.

"My favourite position would probably be the striker, number nine, but I can play behind the striker as a 10 or out wide so I think I'm quite versatile."

He added: "It feels amazing, everyone's made me feel very welcome. even putting on the training top I was over the moon so hopefully I can put on the shirt in the near future and make some good history."

"The World Cup was a fantastic achievement out in Korea. We knew if we went out there and did well, we knew we had a good bunch of boys, so to win it was amazing."
