Manchester United want to sign Romelu Lukaku
MANCHESTER UNITED have a plan up their sleeve in order to sign Romelu Lukaku, reports claim.
Manchester United have made Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata their top target after conceding defeat in their pursuit of Atletico Madrid hitman Antoine Griezmann.
Jose Mourinho is expected to carry out a overhaul of his squad, and Wayne Rooney is likely to leave, with recent reports suggesting he could rejoin Everton this week.
Lukaku, meanwhile, has refused to sign a new deal with the Toffees.
Chelsea are also chasing a deal for the Belgian, with Antonio Conte bracing himself for Diego Costa’s departure.
But according to the Daily Star, United are prepared to use Rooney as bait to clinch a deal for Lukaku.
The report also claims United are struggling to make headway to sign Morata.
Mourinho has so far only brought in one player - Victor Lindelof from Benfica.
The Portuguese tactician wants to sort out deals before United jet off for their pre-season tour on Sunday.
Mourinho has also been linked with a move for Torino star Andrea Belotti, as they seek to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
