Man Utd star proposes to his girlfriend on holiday

Chris Smalling has taken to social media to reveal that he proposed to his girlfriend Samantha Cooke while on holiday in Bali.

The Manchester United defender has been enjoying some time away from football in recent weeks after being given an extended summer holiday following his involvement in Euro 2016 with England.

The centre-half relaxed with his girlfriend in Bali and used his social media account to reveal that he is now engaged to Cooke.

Smalling posted the picture above on his personal Instagram account on Friday morning and wrote: "#Bali will be remembered for many reasons but the most memorable moment was when a certain @samcookephotography said yes! #fiancee"

Smalling was taken ill with food poisoning while on holiday in Bali but now seems to be in good shape as he prepares to report back to Carrington to begin his preparations for the new season under Jose Mourinho.

The defender was one of United's top performers last season as the Red Devils ended up in fifth place in the Premier League table under Louis van Gaal.
