The youngster, 11, has recorded a single If Every Day Was Christmas for charity and is hoping for a Christmas No1.

But David and Victoria came under fire for “using” him to boost “Brand Beckham”.

Last night dad David insisted the song was his son’s idea to “give something back” and help others.

There was “nothing more” to Cruz’s music career and he was focused on school.

Becks added: “Cruz came to us and said: ‘How about I do a Christmas song for charity?’ There’s nothing more to this than that at the moment.

"We only realised Cruz has a cute little voice about nine months ago.

"He’s 11 years old, he’s still at school, he’s concentrating at school but he wanted to give back and he’s done this amazing Christmas song that’s got a lot of attention.

"I’m proud of it. He came to us with the idea. It’s kind of cool, he’s having fun.”
