Arbeloa taunts Pique in Twitter exchange

Spain team-mates Gerard Pique and Alvaro Arbeloa have exchanged barbed messages on Twitter in the aftermath of Barcelona’s defeat to Real Madrid in the Clasico last week.

Barca’s grip on first spot on La Liga was weakened further on Saturday as they slumped to a shock 1-0 defeat to Real Sociedad hours after Madrid had hammered Eibar 4-0 - and Arbeloa took the chance to provoke the Catalans.

¡QUÉ DIFÍCIL ES GANAR CONTRA 11!
¡Partidazo de @illarra4 y enorme @eGranero11, promesa cumplida! ;) ¡Enhorabuena Pirata!

— Álvaro Arbeloa (@aarbeloa17) April 9, 2016

"How hard is to win against 11!" he tweeted, referring to Fernando Torres' red card against Barca in midweek. "Fantastic game by [Asier Illaramendi] and huge [Esteban Granero], promise fulfilled! ;) Congratulations Pirata!”

Pique then hit back when presented with the tweet in the mixed zone, saying: “A player who has started once in 32 games does not deserve a response.”

Pues tenía razón. Peliculon "La verdad duele" https://t.co/a4EKfdTtlO

Arbeloa would not let the dispute lie and tweeted again: "Great movie, The Truth Hurts."

The Madrid man was referring to a tweet sent by Pique after Los Blancos’ midweek Champions League loss against Wolfsburg, with the film in question known as 'Concussion' in English.

Peliculón lleva tilde. Un abrazo. https://t.co/olqNtB40kn

He made a spelling error, however, and Pique was quick to reply: "Peliculón (great movie) has an accent. A hug."

Igual que 'expulsión'. Vuelves a tener razón. Abrazo fenómeno. https://t.co/RJzqVzHb9x

"So does expulsión (sending off)," Arbeloa replied, again referring to Torres' red. "You are right again. A hug back phenomenon."
