Benitez: speedy success guaranteed

After trophyless season, Rafa Benitez has arrived at Real Madrid charged with winning them silverware in his very first season, something he is more than used to.

This is nothing new for Benitez, who for many years has been used to coaching teams challenging for silverware in their respective countries.

Two quick promotions to the top flight

During his first season in the Extremadura dugout (1997/98), Benitez won promotion to Spain's first division. Two seasons later, as Tenerife boss, he repeated the feat leading his team into the top flight.

Valencia's first league title for 31 years.

Promotion with Extremadura and Tenerife earned him his first big contract as well as his first challenge at a big club, Valencia. In his first season in charge he won the club its first league title in over thirty years.

European champions in his first year at Liverpool

'Reds' fans will never forget Benitez's first season at Anfield, or the final in Istanbul, which saw them win their first European crown in 21 years.

Immediate success at Inter, Chelsea and Napoli too

He won the FIFA Club World Cup with Inter, the Europa League with Chelsea and the Italian Cup with Napoli.
