The ex-Manchester United boss, 51, admits he tries to get rival chiefs to have a pint with him after each match.

So far, they are refusing invites into his “little room” once battle has been done on the touchline. But Moyes, sacked by United last year, has had some high points so far in sunny Spain.

His Real Sociedad side are 12th in the league but pulled off a stunning win over Barcelona at the start of the year.

Despite rebuilding his crumbling reputation, he is struggling to make friends and says he is in desperate need of a chin-wag with those in the same boat as him, adding:

"I’ve asked a few managers, like we do in the Premier League, to go for a glass of wine or a beer after a game.

"Back in the Premier League, the managers spend 20 minutes having a chat, and it’s not always football.

"But at the moment I’m not getting much joy. There’s nobody coming into my little room to join me.

"From what I’ve seen so far from my time the communication between managers here is very limited. It’s a difficult job and it’s nice to speak to someone in a similar situation.”

The Scot may have more luck when he grasps the language – which he is slowly learning.

"I’ve offered to do more, but my teacher says if I go faster I won’t pick it up.”
