SOUNDBITE: (English) Tillakaratne Dilshan, Sri Lanka:
"I think after 17 years in my career, I tried to give my best every single game to the country and the team. Today, I didn't think as though this was my last game, I tried my best to win this game but unfortunately we are short by 10-15 runs. I am also disappointed after getting forties, getting out in the last two games. I got the start but unfortunately didn't go to a big one. But I took the decision (to retire from ODIs) to give the youngsters a chance, this is a time for your youngsters to (put their) hands up, to take forward Sri Lanka cricket, that's the main - that's why I decided to retire in international cricket and giving the youngsters a chance. I think our youngsters are doing really well, hopefully that can take our national flag a long way. I can be sure of any youngsters that are playing. That's the main target, I'm really happy throughout my career what I've done for my country."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Tillakaratne Dilshan, Sri Lanka:
(on the future of Test cricket)
"Yeah, definitely, I think everyone has to play more Test cricket. That is the beauty of the game, Test cricket. I really enjoyed my Test career as well as one-dayers. I think a lot of youngsters try to play T20 and one-dayers but I'm giving advice to them - make sure they should enjoy Test cricket first, then they can enjoy one-dayers and T20. Sri Lanka cricket are now structuring the domestic season very well, four-day and provincial tournament. We should be giving the youngsters and club cricket, getting the standard a little bit up, definitely the standard should go up. That's my message to the youngsters - try to enjoy Test cricket and they can enjoy especially one-dayers and T20."
