New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor spoke about the abandonment of the fourth day's play of the First Test against South Africa in Durban on Monday (22nd August).
SOUNDBITE: (English) Ross Taylor, New Zealand:
"Any time you play a bowling line-up with (Dale) Steyn, (Vernon) Philander and (Kagiso) Rabada, it's a world-class bowling line-up and they know how to bowl in these conditions. It was pretty dark out there, the boys were hassling me about the balls they faced. I think Pretoria (venue for the second Test) will be slightly different conditions to what we've faced here and obviously the weather has played its part. But I think we know what we're going to get and at Pretoria the sun will be out and probably a little less grass on the wicket. But yeah, one more day of Test cricket here in Durban and we'll just have to wait and see what happens."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Ross Taylor, New Zealand:
"Yeah, obviously it's a bit disappointing not to get out there but the nets have actually been pretty good. Good for the batters to get out there and hit a few balls and what not but at the same time it's been good for our bowlers who've bowled a lot over the last while so can have a break with a lot of cricket coming up over the next few months."SOUNDBITE: (English) Ross Taylor, New Zealand: (on resuming his innings after a long delay for rain)
"Yeah, it's a bit strange, it's something I've never had to deal with. I suppose you've just got to prepare to bat and probably in those down times not think about it too much and try and switch off from batting. It probably sounds a lot easier than it is but ... No, I guess it's nice still to be batting and once again we'll just have to wait and see what happens tomorrow and hopefully be relaxed and make good decisions."
