"It was definitely a situation for me, I just wanted to be able to also be a champion at that point. I saw Kerron doing it (compatriot Kerron Clement won the men's 400 metres hurdles), so I really wanted to be able to join him in that celebration you know, we're good friends. I just really wanted to be a part of that more than anything and he was so inspiring, he's worked really hard for it and you know, I just wanted to bring home a gold too."

"It definitely put a lot of pressure on me. It was definitely difficult. I just kind of stayed within myself just trusted my abilities and just trusted what I've been doing and just really stayed focused. It honestly wasn't my best race, you know, not just based on the time, but just on my performance and how I executed the race last night. And I think, you know, a little pressure does get to you, thankfully I was still able to come out with a win, but... yeah, it's just... it puts a lot of pressure on you to be number one going into the event."
