Alastair Cook admits England have still failed to address urgent issues which must be solved if they are to return to number one in the Test rankings.
SOUNDBITE (English): Alastair Cook, England captain:
"Consistently over this summer we have not scored enough runs at the top of the order, as a batting group. The lower order have got us out of trouble some of the times. And it is great that we have got strength in depth down there. But they should the majority of the time be putting the icing on the cake, not making the cake. It is frustrating for us as a side. It is a big area which we have got to keep working on as a group."
SOUNDBITE (English): Alastair Cook, England captain:
"Before they came here. We knew they were a good side. Before the series, they were ahead of us in the rankings. Everyone was speaking what a good side they were. Tough bowlers in our conditions. Suddenly at 2-1 everyone was not saying they were as good. But actually 2-2 is probably a fair reflection of both sides."
SOUNDBITE (English): Alastair Cook, England captain:
"We can't afford to drop as many catches as we have done in this series, if you want to bowl out sides on good wickets like this one here [...] Mo (Moeen Ali) has done a fantastic job for us. He came into the side as a batter who bowled a bit. He has had to share a lot of the responsibility to do that as part of the five-man attack. He is not a Yasir Shah (Pakistan spinner) - he probably never will be. But he continues to work incredibly hard and he picks up vital wickets for us."
SOUNDBITE (English): Alastair Cook, England captain:
(Q: Are you concerned about the way that some of the players who are trying to establish themselves in the Test side are reacting to the pressure and scrutiny of playing Test cricket?)
"Well it is is not easy. And until you get that score, it is a very hard place to be."
