Sri Lanka captain Angelo Matthews praised his team on Friday (12th August) ahead of the start of the third Test against Australia on Saturday (13th August). Sri Lanka lead the series 2-0.
SOUNDBITE: (English) Angelo Matthews, Sri Lanka captain:
"It's pretty easy to do it when you're winning and give the guys a longer run when you're winning. Obviously when you're losing it's not going to be the case. But, the selectors and the coach and everyone is of the view that we should go with the same batting order and not try to chop and change. Now that we've won the series we'll try and give the opportunity to the guys who we think will deliver at some stage."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Angelo Matthews, Sri Lanka captain:
"We are extremely excited. We've trained harder than what we did in the last two weeks because we just want to win 3-0 and everyone is all geared up. We've not taken our foot off the gas, we've trained extremely hard in the last few days. Hopefully we can go out there once again and beat the Aussies again."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Angelo Matthews, Sri Lanka captain:
"It's going to be a turner once again. The SSC (Sinhalese Sports Club) has traditionally been a very good batting-friendly wicket. The last few games against South Africa and Pakistan did take a lot of turn. So we hope it will take a bit of turn once again from day one and it's going to be a spinner's paradise once again."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Angelo Matthews, Sri Lanka captain:
"You can't say they've not given us a fight. We worked really hard to win those two games. I thought we played better cricket than them. I'm hearing the Aussies have not played good cricket, the wickets were pretty poor... well come on, you've got to grow up (if you believe that). We play on the same wicket. They've got spinners, we've got spinners. They fought really hard it's just that our spinners have bowled extremely well. Our spinners have exploited the conditions and bowled better than them. So credit should go to the whole team. The way they worked, they worked extremely hard."
