Cyclist Fabian Cancellara said on Wednesday (10th August) this was the best possible ending to his career after he won the first Swiss gold medal of the 2016 Olympic Games with victory in the men's time trial.

"Going through so many different years with ups and downs and then coming to your last season, your last weeks and days and months of being a sports athlete. Going home with that (the gold medal), to reach this I can not have more than that."
