England fast bowler Jimmy Anderson apologised for what he called his "petulant" behaviour during the second day of the third Test against Pakistan at Edgbaston on Thursday.
SOUNDBITE (English) Jimmy Anderson, England:
"It was a frustrating day, I had a bad half an hour where I let things get to me, for which I have apologised to both umpires (Bruce Oxenford and Joel Wilson). My behaviour wasn't acceptable, a bit petulant so yes, that was pretty much it."
SOUNDBITE (English) Jimmy Anderson, England:
"Having seen my reactions on the TV, I think that it doesn't look great when I'm pointing at the pitch. I don't think it was necessarily what I said, it was just the way I behaved, to be honest. Like I said, I've apologised to them (the umpires), I had a bad half an hour and hopefully that will be the end of it."
SOUNDBITE (English) Jimmy Anderson, England:
"That sort of competitive edge has sort of helped me through my career and I know at times I can get close to that line. I try and control it but at the same time I don't want to my competitive edge, so it's a balancing act."
SOUNDBITE (English) Jimmy Anderson, England:(On Azhar Ali's celebration with salute and press-ups on reaching his century)
"It's up to them how they want to celebrate, I wasn't too fussed to be honest. The look on my face was probably about how the day was going more than his celebrations to be honest. We can't do anything about their celebrations, it just might make us more determined to get them out before they can get the opportunity to do that."
SOUNDBITE (English) Jimmy Anderson, England:(on whether England can still win at Edgbaston)
"Yes definitely, we've got a new ball, a ten over-old ball, and we've got a crucial hour in the morning. If we can get two or three wickets in that first hour tomorrow then we're right back in the game. We will have to bat brilliantly well in the second innings, which we're capable of, but yes, we need to bowl well in the morning to try and get us back into this game, because at the moment we're on the back foot."
SOUNDBITE (English) Jimmy Anderson, England:
"Today I thought we bowled reasonably well, maybe we could have bowled slightly better, but I thought they (Pakistan) played well. We had chances, we didn't take them, and you get punished at this level if you don't take them, so we're in the situation we are because of that."
