Before the start of the London Anniversary Games on Friday (22nd July), double Olympic and world champion Mo Farah said he just wants to run against "fair athletes".
SOUNDBITE (English) Mo Farah, Olympic 5,000m and 10,000m champion (on the damage caused to the sport):
"You don't want to see anything bad, negative in our sport like...myself and Usain (Bolt) and the rest of us, we work so hard and if something happens it takes away from the limelight. No one wants to see it but we got to do what is right and we've just got to leave it to the government and the people whose job is to make it a fair sport."
SOUNDBITE (English) Mo Farah, Olympic 5,000m and 10,000m champion (about Russian track and field athletes missing the Olympics):
"We have very tight rules and I wish we do follow our rules and other countries do apply (them). There's been a lot of other stuff happening which I haven't been keeping up with but at the same time I don't want to see anything bad in our sport and we just have to do what's best for ourselves and our sports."SOUNDBITE (English) Mo Farah, Olympic 5,000m and 10,000m champion (about clean Russian athletes):
"I do feel bad for the athletes who haven't done anything or haven't crossed the line and they all come together. But at the same time it's not in our control. All I want to do is to be able to line-up against fair athletes and do the best I can. I want you guys to see how hard we work and what we've got to do to show you guys so that's all we can do."
