Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq reflected on his century on Thursday (14th July) on the first day of the First Test against England at Lord's - as he became at 42, the third oldest centurion at the famous ground.
SOUNDBITE: (English) Misbah-ul-Haq, Pakistan captain:(on his celebrations upon scoring a century)
"Yeah, actually it was my promise to the army guys, we did a camp in Abbottabad, just before the skills camp in Lahore. And we used to do on a code every time just step into the ground, ten push-ups and I promised then that whenever I got a hundred, I will definitely do that just to remind you that we were there. So that was for them and the salute was for the flag so that's what they were asking us to do so I did it for them."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Misbah-ul-Haq, Pakistan captain:(on his century on his first appearance at Lord's)
"Yeah, it's a dream to play at Lord's and especially getting a hundred and name on the honours board. It's something special and always satisfying for a cricketer so I rate this innings at the top in Test cricket so I'm really happy about that."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Misbah-ul-Haq, Pakistan captain:(asked if it was a disappointment that Pakistan lost two late wickets)
"Yeah, I think so. It would have been really nice for us if we had batted the whole day and came (in) not out but at the end I think they just came back in the game. We need I think at least to score 400 on this pitch and there's still a lot of hard work to do tomorrow. If we can really get to 400 then I think we can just put pressure on England because we know that there are a good side, they know the conditions and the pitch is really good so at least 400 - that could really give us a good chance just to put pressure on them."
