England batsman Joe Root assess their chances as he looks ahead to the first Test between England and Pakistan at Lord's on Tuesday.
SOUNDBITE: (English) Joe Root, England batsman:
(on being moved up to number three in the England batting order)
"It's just a new opportunity to develop my game and hopefully go another step. Of course I had some good success in the middle order and now it's time to try and further that at the top of the order and do that at number three. I can't see there being massive changes in the way I set my game up when I get out there in the middle. Just try and play very similar to how I have over the last couple of years and hopefully get off to a good start this week and this series and then build from there and see where it takes us and see what the plans are moving forward from that."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Joe Root, England batsman:
"It should be a great challenge. You want to play against some of the best bowlers in the world and they've got a very good attack. We know we're going to have to play well to score runs against them but there's definitely the strength in depth in our batting line-up that can combat that and it's about making sure we get our plans right this week and having a look at the footage and making sure we cover all bases leading up to the first day."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Joe Root, England batsman:
(on Pakistan bowler Mohammad Amir)
"The decision has been made for him to play. It would be silly for me to go any further with it really. It's a great opportunity to face him. I've not faced him before, so looking forward to that challenge and see how we go throughout this series."
