SOUNDBITE: (English) Eoin Morgan, England captain:
(on state of England 1-day team looking ahead to Champions Trophy and World Cup)
"Yeah, I think we're still at the very beginning of building hopefully what will be a successful campaign in 2019 World Cup. We play on home soil, it's something that we've earmarked our preparation for. It was part and parcel of selecting a completely new squad this time last year and actually starting something to turn around our white ball cricket. I think we've had a little bit of success since then, which has been really good for the side, particularly the confidence the guys have shown, particularly the younger guys as well. Also, the little bit of success we've had away from home. We beat Pakistan in the UAE, and we put ourselves in a commanding position against South Africa. The result in South Africa didn't go our way. We had opportunities to win the series at various points, particularly in Johannesburg in that third one-day international. I think probably what let us down was a little bit of experience. I think that's important for us to not only stick with the same group of players in order to grow their experience over a period of time, but also I think trying to find some consistency with their performances is very important. If you look at where we sit in the ICC rankings, we sit actually below Sri Lanka, and it's a reflection of our performances over the last number of years, and I think it's particularly at home, it's important to relish those home performances and try and get the best out of our side."
