-
England assistant coach Paul Farbrace and Sri Lanka captain Angelo Matthews gave tehir verdicts on the third day of the third Test against Sri Lanka on Saturday (11th June) at Lord's.
SOUNDBITE: (English) Angelo Matthews, Sri Lanka captain (Q: You are probably a bit dissappointed with how you started this morning?)
"Yeah I think we lost a few wickets in the morning. I think we couldn't do well in the field in the first few hours and we got out for 200, or something like that. I think that with the start we got we have to score more than that I think. If we score more than 300 plus runs I think there would be a good chance, but I think the second innings the bowlers did really well. We are still in the game I think, if we get early wickets tomorrow morning I think we have a good chance."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Paul Farbrace, England assistant coach (Q: 162-1 last night and then 13 wickets have gone for 200-odd, what's happened?)
"Well I thought that we bowled much better this morning than we did yesterday, I think that was the key thing. There was a big discussion this morning about...not necessarily about the attitude, the approach to it, making sure that we went in with the right approach to how we bowled. The first over that Stuart Broad bowled set the tone and there was a stop from (Alex) Hales at sort of gully line and in the second over Woakesy (Chris Woakes) got a wicket, Compton made a brilliant stop and it was almost as if that first hour...what was it, 20 runs scored, wickets taken, it just set the tone for us to keep going really. Disappointing from a batting point of view to lose a few wickets tonight, it would have been nice perhaps to have been maybe two down."
