England's Stuart Broad said on Wednesday (25th May) that he is expecting Sri Lanka to regroup for the second test in Durham after the tourists suffered an innings and 88 runs defeat last week.
The England cricket team migrated further north to the less than balmy climbs of Durham.
Alastair Cook and his men face Sri Lanka in the second test following an impressive innings victory.
First up, a bit of football to get warm at the Emirates Riverside.
Compton firing high and wide early on, before a stunning one-two play between Moeen Ali and Jonny Bairstow.
Action in the nets was even more spectacular, Joe Root looking in good nick.
James Anderson steamed in from the bowlers' end, alongside his long-term bowling partner Stuart Broad.
Who thinks that England will face a revitalised Sri Lanka come Day 1 on Friday.
"When teams have maybe had the result they don't want, they certainly up their game the next game - they learn from their experiences. I think us enforcing the follow on was a good decision because it didn't give Sri Lanka time to regroup and talk about what they want to do better in the second innings really - we were just straight on top of them again. I'm sure they have had four or five days now to get ready for conditions here, to work on certain things they want to work on. I think there might be a couple of changes to their team, with an injury or so. So we'll have to be right on the money come Friday. That's why these two training days are so important."
