Andrew Gayle, Steven Croft and Gareth Roderick discussed the ICC World Twenty20 in India during a launch event for the 2016 County Championship in Manchester, England on Wednesday (30th March).
SOUNDBITE: (English) Andrew Gayle, Yorkshire captain:
"We've had good preparation going into the season. We've just got back from a tour of Abu Dhabi and Dubai. We're obviously missing quite a few number of players out at the World Cup (ICC World Twenty20), but we've had good preparation and we're confident going into the season, as probably most counties are, I guess. It's just about getting out of the blocks well and getting that confidence from the first few games."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Steven Croft, Lancashire captain:
"Definitely looking forward to the season. We are back in Division One and no other side's won the Natwest T20 Blast back-to-back, so it's another incentive for us there."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Gareth Roderick, Gloucestershire captain (on South Africa's early exit from the World Twenty20):
"Obviously growing up in South Africa and supporting them all my life and things like that.... it was disappointing, but that's the nature of T20 cricket, you never know what is going to happen. Anyone can turn over anyone. You saw the West Indies who are looking on red-hot form losing to Afghanistan the other day, so it's just very unpredictable."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Andrew Gayle, Yorkshire captain (on World Twenty20 hosts India):
"I think the Indian fans would be disappointed with anything other than winning the World Cup itself. They're such a strong team and they only qualified by the skin of their teeth, so, they're very passionate fans and they'll be wanting them (the Indian players) to lift that trophy, no doubt."
