New Zealand beat Bangladesh by an impressive 75 runs on Saturday (26th March) in their final Super 10 match ahead of their ICC World T20 semi-final.
New Zealand will head into their semifinal on Wednesday the dominant side of the T20 World Cup after winning their final game on Saturday (26 March) to complete their clean sweep of Group 2. Already eliminated after 3 losses at the Super Group stage, Bangladesh faced a hard task to beat the Kiwi semifinalists at Eden Gardens. The Black Caps won by 75 runs after electing to bat first, but there were promising displays from the South Asian side in the Super Group for the third time.
Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman took 5-22 - the best bowling figures of the tournament so far - and limited New Zealand to 145-8. Rahman clean bowled four Kiwis in a match that featured 10 bowled dismissals, a record in T20 internationals.
Bangladesh were all out for 70, in another record - the lowest total runs against New Zealand, and the lowest at the famous Eden Gardens.
Only three Bangladesh batsmen made it into double figures, with number eight batsman Shuvagata Hom (16 not out) top scoring for the Tigers.
One semi final place remains to be decided in Sunday's match between hosts India and cricketing powerhouse Australia. After England beat Sri Lanka by 10 runs they are New Zealand's likely opponents in the semis.
