Kenya Anti-Doping Agency chairman Peter Waweru tried to play down concerns the country would be banned from the summer's Olympics and defended it's testing programme and said on Friday (19th February) "I feel we are doing enough, it's only that we are not within the stipulated time, but efforts are being made and I'm sure in the course of two weeks (from) now we shall meet the requirements by WADA".

"ADAK has been conducting testing during national championships and also carrying out some education to athletes and especially in the areas where most of our athletes come from. So I feel we are doing enough, it's only that we are not within the stipulated time, but efforts are being made and I'm sure in the course of two weeks (from) now we shall meet the requirements by WADA, because like Monday we are having a validation workshop. We are going to validate all the documents that have been presented before and have gone through public hearing and public approval, so once that validation is done then we are going to forward the document to the Attorney General chambers to be gazettement and te shall have now complied with all the requirements of WADA. So I do not think we should be alarmed about being banned because there is now very positive efforts, very positive support from the government through the ministry of sports and I believe we are going to be within time."
