on not thinking about Michael Schumacher's record of seven world titles
"I got into Formula One wanting to be Ayrton Senna. There was no other driver, I wasn't bothered by any other driver, just Ayrton. And he'd won three titles and that's what my goal was. Now, I'm just focused on, I don't have to look at other drivers as targets. I'm my own target now, and how far I can take myself from here is going to depend not only on me, but Petronas, this team Mercedes, and how they help me achieve it. But it's how far I can go. Now it's kind of now, creating my own history."

on moving to Mercedes from McLaren
"If I'm not a man now, then I never will be. But for sure, that step is difficult I think. I think people can understand that, you know when I was at McLaren, I was there since I was 13, I was very much in the family, there's you know, I can only relate to being at home with your parents. There's more slack, when you're at home. There's, not more slack, but there's more, it's a little bit more relaxed and it's not until you finally move out into your own place and you get your own job and you take on all these responsibilities of your bills and all those kind of things. That same kind of experience is like going to a new team for the first time."
