The head of the German Olympic Sports Confederation, Martin Vesper, says those implicated in the Russian doping scandal must not be allowed to participate in the 2016 Olympic Games.
SOUNDBITE (German) Martin Vesper, German Olympic Sports Confederation CEO:
"The findings of the WADA commission are an important contribution to the world wide fight against doping and that reaches wider than the sport of athletics but concerns the whole world of sports. The suggestion of the commission to WADA is, to declare that the Russian athletics federation is not in compliance with the worldwide valid doping regulations if it does not fully reform. This is a chance for the Russian federation and the IAAF as a whole, because if there will be reforms a participation (at the 2016 Olympic Games) is possible but those reforms are necessary, without them it will not be possible "
SOUNDBITE (German) Martin Vesper, German Olympic Sports Confederation CEO:
"We will have to see what the WADA and the IAAF will do, they both have meetings in the next weeks and I am fully convinced that WADA as well as the IAAF under (President) Sebastian Coe's new leadership will make the right decisions and will start working on the reforms demanded by the commission. One thing is clear, those in Russia who contravened against the rules should not have a chance to join the games in Rio"
