SOUNDBITE (English) Gerrie Nel, lead prosecutor in the trial of Oscar Pistorius
"The court never went back to discuss the circumstantial evidence in what happened in the bedroom. The court followed the evidence of the time since the accused moved to the bathroom. What happened afterwards, the court relied on but the court failed to, erroneously failed to take into account what happened just before, and that's the most important aspect of this trial."
Barry Le Roux following him, putting forward his defence for Pistorius.
SOUNDBITE (English) Barry Roux, Pistorius' defence lawyer Barry Roux:
"And there is a ring of truth there and by virtue of expert evidence she found the witnesses on behalf of the state dealing with the screaming and calling that, and referring that and interpreting that as a woman screaming as unreliable and she was quite correct."
Reports suggest the hearing will run for a number of weeks, with Pistorius himself not present.
