Script: Barry Steenkamp, the father of Reeva Steenkamp, who was shot dead by boyfriend Oscar Pistorius in 2013, gave his reaction on Tuesday to news that a decision granting Pistorius early release from prison had been cancelled.
SOUNDBITE: (English) Barry Steenkamp, (father of Reeva), "Well I personally I was quite surprised, but naturally my wife and I we feel, you know, we don't want to say much and all we say is that justice must take its course and we will leave it to them. We feel, you know, we would like this now all come to a head and be finished with it."
Students in Port Elizabeth are relieved that justice is being served.
SOUNDBITE: (English) Sinesipho Joyi
"I'm so happy because it shows a message that it's not OK for people just to murder women and just abuse women and just expect to walk away freely, because had he left it would have sent out a message to people that it's OK to abuse women, that we in South Africa we condoned that. And especially if you a star that means you can walk away, we don't allow justice to serve its purpose, so I'm quite happy that justice at the end prevailed."
Pistorius has served nearly one year of his five-year prison sentence, and was eligible to be moved to house arrest after the first 10 months.
South Africa's justice minister has suspended the decision and ordered a review.
Pistorius faces the possibility of a 15-year jail sentence if a panel of five judges agrees with prosecutors that he should have been found guilty of murder rather than charged with culpable homicide.
