Reaction from the 4 x 400 metres relays on the final day of the IAAF World Championships in Beijing, China, on Sunday (30 August).
SOUNDBITE (English) LaShawn Merritt, 4 x 400m gold:
"We didn't have the best of championships as a whole. But each individual I can bet came out and gave it their all. Giving it your all doesn't always mean bringing home a gold. You leave here. And you work on something. You get ready for next year - Rio."
SOUNDBITE (English) LaShawn Merritt, 4 x 400m gold:
"This was the biggest moment of this season. Making this World Championship team and coming and competing well. I got a personal best in the 400. I can't complain. And we're taking a gold home for the 4 x 400. I have maybe a couple more meets left this season. Then I will take a little time off and go and work my butt off for Rio."
SOUNDBITE (English) Martyn Rooney, 4 x 400m bronze:
"We came here to win a medal and the guys were pumped up to do it. There was no fourth places. We only came here to pick up some kind of 'bling bling'. And we did it! I am really happy and it sets us up really well for next year."
SOUNDBITE (English) Martyn Rooney, 4 x 400m bronze:(On being team captain and assessing Team GB)
"The real success is people came here to win. People came here to perform well. They didn't come just to be here. And the mindset has changed. And that's something that you can't measure in medals. It is something that has taken a long time and athletes to come through. And the young athletes are coming through and they really are here to win. Everyone is on the same path now and everybody wants to do well. There's no 'I am glad I went to the championships'. No. It's like we come here to do well and we are disappointed if we don't do well. That's probably the proudest thing I could say as captain."
