Script:
The seventh race of the Formula E season took place in Monte Carlo, Monaco on Saturday (9th May).
Sebastien Buemi made a superb start from pole position, holding his place to move into an early lead.
But the start wasn't without incident.
Daniel Abt came to the inside on the first turn, made contact with Nicolas Prost and sent Bruno Senna soaring into the back of him.
It was an early end to the race for both Abt and Senna.
Nelson Piquet then made a superb dart to the inside to seize third place from Jerome d'Ambrosio early on.
It was an impressive drive overall from Piquet who had been frustrated to have to start from fourth on the grid.
Scott Speed suffered damage to his front wing which was briefly lodged under his front wheel.
He recovered enough to finish a credible eighth at the end of racing.
The victory went to Buemi in a time of 48:05.225 with a margin of 2.1 seconds.
It was the first time all season that a driver has led the race from start to finish.
De Grassi took second place and Piquet held on for third, 4.634 seconds behind di Grassi and just 0.2 seconds faster than Bird.
SOUNDBITE: (English) Sebastien Buemi:
"it feels great. Especially (to win) from pole position. It's a good weekend finally. We were leading in Buenos Aires as well but then I had a little mistake so finally a very good weekend from pole position to win. It's an amazing feeling, especially in Monaco so I couldn't be more happy."
