Jose Maria Lopez has extended his lead in the World Touring Car Championship after a storming start saw him get the better of team-mate Yvan Muller at the Hungaroring in Budapest, Hungary, in Round Five on Sunday (May 3rd).
Title chaser Muller had qualified from pole position, but third place Lopez got the better getaway to squeeze up alongside his Citroen team-mate into turn one and snatch a lead he would comfortably maintain to the chequered flag for his third win of the year.
In Round Six, Norbert Michelisz gave the Hungarian fans what they came to see by claiming a dominant first World Touring Car Championship win since 2013 on home soil.
Having intentionally focused on securing a good grid position for race two in qualifying on Saturday, Michelisz - who finished eighth in race one - made full use of his reverse grid pole position to get the best getaway and lead into the opening bends.
From here, the Hungarian was in sublime form in front of a thrilled crowd, running almost a full second a lap quicker than his rivals to win by more than seven seconds.
