"I believe that Vido Loncar is not a butcher or as bad as this act makes him look. This was part of his excessive ambition in that moment. I personally know how much he wanted to join the three other Croatian boxers who were winning medals at the big competitions. He could have been the fourth one during this competition, he was expecting a lot from himself, but in the end he committed an act that is ugly, unforgivable and will harm him in his future professional life. For me personally -- as a sportsperson, a boxer, somebody who follows the sport and the history books -- I can't recall any acts like this in the boxing ring. I haven't seen it before, not even in professional boxing with the boxers who have a reputation for being aggressive."
