Neymar has always claimed to be innocent

A Brazilian model who claimed to have been raped by footie ace Neymar has been charged with fraud and extortion.

Earlier this year, Najila Trinidade told Sao Paulo cops she had been raped by the star after visiting him during a trip to Paris in May.

But, a judge dismissed the case in August, citing insufficient evidence.

Now, Brazilian officers said they have indicted the model for fraud, slanderous denunciation and extortion.

Najila’s ex-boyfriend Estivens Alves has also been charged for disclosing erotic content, which was later posted online.

The final decision on whether to charge Trinidade will be decided at a later date.

Paris St-Germain star Neymar has always strongly denied the claims made against him.

After learning that Trinidade’s case had been dismissed, he shared a post on Instagram.

He said: “This scar will remain to remind me at what point people are capable of doing good things, but also of doing bad things.”

The case dominated the headlines in Neymar’s native Brazil.

In a bid to defend himself, the ace published a seven-minute video where he said he had been accused of rape.

Neymar then shared WhatsApp messages and images that he said were of the woman.

He claimed they met online, but that he paid for her to visit him in the French capital and that they had consensual sex before Trinidade returned to Brazil.

It was shortly after her arrival that Trinidade approached Sao Paulo police.
