KEVIN DE BRUYNE has stuck the boot into Liverpool and admitted Jurgen Klopp's men didn't deserve to win the title.

The Reds pushed Manchester City to the limit in one of the most exciting title races of all time.

Klopp's side lost just one all season and claimed 97 points - but still ended up with nothing.

Pep Guardiola's men won their last 14 league games to pip them to the crown by a single point and become the first team in a decade to defend the Premier League.

The Merseysiders have earned a lot of new admirers this season for their style of football and ability to challenge the champions.

But De Bruyne insists he has no sympathy whatsoever for his rivals because the table doesn't lie - and has told his opponents to take it on the chin.

When asked if he felt sorry for the Reds, De Bruyne said: "No.

"It's a remarkable effort, but it means that we were just better than them in the end.

"I don't feel sorry for them, because I don't think they'd feel sorry for us. I don't think anybody felt sorry about the way we went out of the Champions League.

"You take it. I know how they feel, because you're going to feel disappointed.

"We'd feel the same if it happened to us. But we're still competitors. We want to win as much as they do.

"It's the general view of athletes. You feel compassionate with other teams, but in the end the most important thing is, if you play an individual sport, it's yourself, and when it's your team, it's your team.

"It's been a great battle. But to feel 'sorry' for them is maybe going a little too far."

Guardiola's side will look to win a historic domestic treble when they face Watford in today's FA Cup final.

But despite all their success, Guardiola insists no-one loves his side.

He said: "No, people don't like winners here. Or in Spain, Italy, everywhere.

"My theory is true, maybe it's not, but maybe in the future people will like us.

"We feel love and we feel people are happy, it's just in terms of history we are not in that position.

"Of course we are satisifed for ourselves, family and friends, we live for these people. It’s important to be satisfied with what we have done - knowing the line is so tight."
