Sheffield United Received A £3m Loan From The Family Of Osama Bin Laden

Sheffield United are in hot water after it has emerged that the club received a £3m loan from the family of Osama bin Laden.

According to the Daily Telegraph, a High Court judge is looking into a power struggle over the football club between co-owners Kevin McCabe and Prince Abdullah bin Musa'ad bin Abdul Aziz, who is a member of the Saudi Arabia royal family.

It has been reported that on the fourth day of the hearings that the Blades received a £3m loan from 'Project Delta,' which can be traced back to the al-Qaeda founder and former leader's family.

Barrister Andreas Gledhill QC, who is representing Abdullah's team, has said that McCabe was aware of where the funding had come from.

In fact, the Sheffield Star has reported that Gledhill said McCabe 'knew the money had come from another source, namely a member of the bin Laden family.'

The Sheffield United owners each own a 50 per cent stake in the club.

McCabe, 71, met Abdullah, 54, back in 2013 when the former was looking for someone to invest into the club.

Abdullah agreed to invest £10m into the club, although his relationship with McCabe began to unravel in 2017.

The trial is expected to continue over the next few weeks.

The United States Navy SEALs killed bin Laden back in 2011 during an operation in Abbottabad, Pakistan.
