David Alaba wants to play with Cristiano Ronaldo rather than Lionel Messi
REAL MADRID target David Alaba is reportedly happy to snub Barcelona and Lionel Messi because he wants to play with Cristiano Ronaldo.
Real will be busy in the transfer market this summer as they look to bounce back from a disappointing domestic campaign.
And signing a new player to partner Sergio Ramos at centre-back is thought to be one of their top priorities.
Versatile Bayern Munich defender Alaba is believed to be top of Real Madrid's wanted list to play alongside their skipper.
And the latest reports from Spain indicate they have an edge on Barcelona, who are also eager to get him on-board.
According to Diario Gol, Alaba has made it known that he wants to line up with Ronaldo rather than Messi.
They claim he's told his closest friends: "I want to play with Cristiano Ronaldo."
And Florentino Perez will apparently look to exploit that situation by getting a deal over the line.
Diario Gol suggest Alaba's arrival at Real could allow Raphael Varane to head for the exit door.
Alaba's decision to snub Barcelona is supposedly not just being motivated by wanting to play with Ronaldo.
Real Madrid and Barcelona want to prise David Alaba away from Bayern Munich in the summer
Alaba is said to believe Samuel Umtiti will renew his contract at Barcelona, despite an ongoing wrangle.
And it seems he'd like to avoid playing second fiddle to the Frenchman by moving to Real.
Alaba also witnessed Real's Champions League demolition of Juventus and that is thought to have tipped the scales in their favour.
Real have been linked with Alaba's Bayern team-mate Robert Lewandowski as well as they look to replace Karim Benzema.
