Manchester United fans would love to see Cristiano Ronaldo back at the club
MANCHESTER UNITED are considering a stunning swap deal involving David de Gea and Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo, according to reports in Spain.
Ronaldo has been constantly linked with a return to Old Trafford ever since he left Manchester United for Real in 2009.
The Portuguese superstar's future was the subject of intense speculation last summer and although he had a very slow start to the campaign by his very high standards, he has been unstoppable lately.
Reports have emerged suggesting that Ronaldo wants Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah to pitch up at the Bernabeu in the summer rather than Chelsea's Eden Hazard.
Salah has been a revelation for the Anfield outfit this term, firing home 36 goals in all competitions.
Real are planning a massive overhaul of their squad with Zinedine Zidane left frustrated by their disappointing season which sees them sit 15 points behind runaway La Liga leaders Barcelona.
Besides strengthening their attack, Zidane wants to buy a new goalkeeper as a replacement for Keylor Navas.
United's De Gea and Chelsea shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois are targets, although the former may be unobtainable with Jose Mourinho refusing to sanction a deal.
However, Spanish outlet Don Balon claim that United are willing to sacrifice De Gea to land Ronaldo.
The report suggests they will offer the 27-year-old and £35million in return for the Portugal captain.
De Gea has been a long-standing target for Real and came close to joining Los Blancos in 2015, but a faulty fax machine prevented the deal from happening.
