Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic claims striker Michy Batshuayi will be able to fill the boots of Diego Costa, during the Spaniard's suspension.
Batshuayi has had to bide his time on the sidelines this season with Costa in imperious form, as manager Antonio Costa's lone-striker.
With 13 Premier League goals this campaign, to lead the Blues to the summit of the table at the Christmas period, the £33.2 million off-season signing from Marseille, has been restricted to late substitute appearances – scoring only one league goal.
Labeled the 'next Drogba', due to his finishing ability and strength during his time in Ligue 1, his teammate says his time on the sidelines will hold him in good stead as he was able to learn from Costa – while he settled into life in London.
"When you have Diego in the team it is very hard to get a chance because he is playing so well and scoring goals, but I'm sure Michy is ready to take his opportunity because he is working hard every day," the Serbian told the London Evening Standard.
"Of course he has benefited from working with Costa. It was the same with me seven years ago (in Matic's first spell at Chelsea). It was very good for me to see how Frank Lampard played, how Michael Ballack played and Michael Essien.
"So it is good for Michy and a good experience for him to see Diego's movement. He will have learned from watching and playing with Diego."
