Mamadou Sakho has wished Divock Origi a speedy recovery from an ankle injury after the Liverpool striker was forced off during Wednesday night’s 4-0 victory over Everton.
The Belgium international scored his fifth goal in six games in all competitions for the Reds to break the deadlock in the 43rd minute of the Merseyside derby.
However, Origi’s night was brought a premature end after Everton defender Ramiro Funes Mori caught the Reds forward with a late challenge early in the second half.
The Argentina international received a straight red card for the reckless tackle, while Origi was replaced by Daniel Sturridge for the final 30 minutes or so.
Sakho, who scored Liverpool’s second goal on the stroke of half-time, posed for a selfie with Origi as the 21-year-old received treatment on his ankle.
Sakho wrote on his Instagram page: “I hope nothing serious for him !! J’espère rien de grave ! Courage mon gars @divockorigi 👊🏿 #YNWA @liverpoolfc”
Liverpool will face former manager Rafael Benitez when Newcastle United make the trip to Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
