Internet split over Jamie Vardy’s red card against Stoke

Jamie Vardy wasn't able to follow up his Chelsea heroics against Stoke after receiving his marching orders in the 28th minute.
The 29-year-old slid in on Mame Biram Diouf but although it could be argued that he was out of control it did look like a harsh red card.
He won the ball but caught Diouf on the top of the foot with his follow through and will now miss games against Everton, West Ham and Middlesbrough.
To make matters worse Bojan put Stoke ahead from the penalty spot 11 minutes later before Joe Allen doubled the lead heading into half-time.
The internet was split over whether Vardy deserved the red card or not.
Gary Linekar was very much in the harsh camp.
I may be biased but a ludicrous red card has been shown to @vardy7

not even a foul by #vardy let alone a red. brainless reffing yet again in #PremierLeague #bbcfootball

That Vardy tackle wasn't even two footed !! That'll get rescinded !!

Jamie Vardy's foul wasn't red for me

But there was no shortage of people who thought the England international deserved his marching orders.
Horrific challenge from Vardy. Never like to see something like that.

Chris Sutton talks some twaddle. Clear red for #vardy

Not sure why so many people are disputing that, easy red for Vardy

Vardy hard done by? Not sure. Why jump into a tackle like that post-Rojo and give the same referee a decision to make? Stupid. #STKLEI

It's worth noting that Craig Pawson was the same referee who let Marcos Rojo off for a similar looking challenge against Crystal Palace.
But look on the bright side Jamie. If the red doesn't get rescinded you can have a Vardy party all through the festive period an into 2017.
