Zlatan, Swedish Legend
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is arguably the biggest thing to come out of Sweden in the 21st century.
Born in a disadvantaged immigrant neighbourhood to Bosnian parents, Zlatan was one of the first bi-nationals to play for Sweden, in a country that was traditionally quite ethnically homogeneous.
The fact that Zlatan went on to become the country’s record goalscorer made his legendary status all the more secure, and even though he’s now retired from the Swedish national team, his legend very much lives on.
Statue in his honour
Such is his status as a cultural icon that a statue is going to be erected in his honour in the country’s capital, Stockholm.
The decision was made by the Swedish FA after Zlatan won his 10th straight Swedish Player of the Year award earlier this year.
And Zlatan has now given us a sneak peek of the bust on Instagram, which will be revealed to the public shortly.
Zlatan being Zlatan, he added an epic/corny quote, depending on your views on the Man United man.
