Neuer: Not a difficult decision

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer says it was an easy decision for him to sign a five-year contract extension with the club this week.
With time running out on his previous deal and current manager Pep Guardiola heading to Manchester City next season, rumours were beginning to circulate that Neuer could well be headed for the exit door as well, but he insists this was never the case.
"I think many clubs didn't even dare to make an offer because they feared being rejected," the Germany international told reporters. "But it was clear that I'll go on playing for FC Bayern.
"I feel very comfortable at this club, we have a great environment and fight for every possible title. So it was no difficult decision to extend my contract."
The squad at the Allianz Arena reacted positively to the news with both Thiago Alcantara and Javi Martinez taking time out to express their delight at Neuer's decision to remain at the club for the foreseeable future.
"We know Manuel Neuer is the best goalkeeper in the world, so we are very happy," Thiago explained. "It seems the team will stay together for the next years. We are winners."
Martinez added: "Manuel Neuer is the best goalkeeper in the world. I am very happy he will stay until 2021 – like me as well."
