Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has told the club that he wishes to sign a ready-made centre back and full back over the next two transfer windows.
Mourinho is looking to avoid signing players with potential as he goes in search of finished articles and the Portuguese maintains that he has enough promising youngsters in his squad, as reported by the Mirror.
Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard, Eric Bailly, Memphis Depay, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial are all under the age of 24 and seem to have their best days ahead of them.
United's transfer policy has seen them pursue young players in recent times, the arrival of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Zlatan Ibrahimovic aside.
The Red Devils spent £12.25m on Cristiano Ronaldo when he was 18 and sold him to Real Madrid for £80m, they also spent big on Anthony Martial and the fee for the Frenchman could amount to £58m with add-ons.
The club have adhered to part of their DNA by snapping up young, prosperous individuals but Mourinho is looking to veer away from that with the view of seeing immediate results.
Although United have been linked with 23-year-old Antonio Rudiger Mourinho is expected to pursue the more experienced Jose Fonte in January.
Naturally right-footed Matteo Darmian has been playing at left back in recent weeks and did so in United's 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur, as Luke Shaw has struggled to shake off minor injuries while Cameron Borthwick-Jackson is on loan at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
