Manchester United are considering a move for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports.
Louis van Gaal is craving more pace in attack, with United displaying a lack of cutting edge this term.
Emerick-Aubameyang has already garnered interest from Arsenal and Liverpool, with both thought to be considering tabling £20million bids.
The Gabon international, who has hit 18 goals in 22 games this term, is thought to be be valued at £42m.
But the Daily Mirror suggest Van Gaal is determined to bring Aubameyang to Old Trafford after dispatching scouts to watch him in action several times this season.
United have been told to back off from signing Thomas Muller.
The Red Devils were heavily linked to the Bayern Munich striker in the summer and even lodged a £60m bid.

Ander Herrera has denied suggestions he wants to leave Manchester United
Chelsea have also sounded Muller as a target following Diego Costa’s alarming decline in form as well as reported souring in relations with Jose Mourinho.
But Bayern’s director of sport Matthias Sammer said: “Thomas Muller embodies everything which distinguishes FC Bayern Munich.
"He is an absolute role model, an absolute gem and he's irreplaceable.”
Ander Herrera has moved to quash speculation over his Old Trafford future.
A report emerged in the Daily Star claiming that Herrera is seeking crisis talks with Van Gaal after being reduced to a bit-part role this season.
And the midfielder tweeted an interview he gave the week before saying he’s happy at the club.
