Liverpool could be set to reignite their interest in Mario Suarez ahead of the January transfer window.
The Spanish midfielder had reportedly been a target under previous boss Brendan Rodgers, while he played in the famous Atletico Madrid side that won La Liga in 2014.
He instead joined Serie A Fiorentina over the summer, though has found first team opportunities limited in Italy.
A tough-tackling defensive midfielder, new Anfield chief Jurgen Klopp is said to have identified him as a top target as he prepares for his first transfer window in charge on Merseyside.
La Viola boss Paulo Sousa is already thought to have had a bust up with the former Spain midfielder, who has three caps for La Roja since making his debut in 2013.
He came through the ranks at Atletico, helping the club win a plethora of trophies in recent years. As well as securing the league title, Suarez also won the Europa League, the Copa Del Rey and two UEFA Super Cups.
