AS Monaco striker set for Stamford Bridge loan switch.
Chelsea have completed the loan signing of AS Monaco forward Radamel Falcao, according to respected Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri.
The 29-year-old Colombian international proved a disappointment during his season-long loan spell at Man United last season, the forward netting just four goals in all competitions, and as such it’s a tad surprising that Jose Mourinho would deem the player a worthwhile addition to his Premier League-winning squad.
That said, Falcao has proven prolific across Europe, netting a total of 155 goals in 200 appearances during his time at FC Porto, Atletico Madrid and AS Monaco.
Mourinho elected to allow Didier Drogba to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer and will be keen to bring in a forward to offer strong support for first choice starter Diego Costa.
Last season Loic Remy proved effective when called upon, the French forward scoring seven goals despite making just six Premier League starts, but seemingly this hasn’t lessened Mourinho’s interest in Falcao.
AS Monaco paid Atletico Madrid a massive €60m (£50m) (Via ESPN) in May 2013 and Falcao started brightly at the Stade Louis II side, bagging 11 goals in 19 appearances before he suffered a severe knee injury in January 2014 that ruled him out of the rest of the season as well as the 2014 World Cup finals.
Falcao will look to re-ignite his career in 2015/16 regardless of which side he represents and the South American undoubtedly has the talent to once again become a feared predator in the final third.
