EXCLUSIVE: Swansea to swoop for Celtic star Virgil van Dijk

Virgil van Dijk has been on the radar of a number of top European clubs

Swans boss Gary Monk is keen on the £8million-rated Celtic defender.

Van Dijk confirmed earlier this week he wants to quit the Scottish champions, with Tottenham, Southampton, Norwich and Sunderland all showing interest.

Celtic are keen to keep the Dutchman but assistant boss John Collins has already tried to boost his value by claiming he is one of the best defenders in Europe.

Meanwhile, Hoops target Alireza Jahanbakhsh has turned down a move to Brighton because he wants to play at a higher level.

The Iranian held talks with the Championship side after they had agreed  a £1.7m deal with NEC Nijmegen in Holland.

Celtic are keen on the 21-year-old, who is interesting Norwich and Anderlecht.

His agent Amir Hashemi said: “Alireza wants to develop further and the style of play the Championship has will not help him.”
