Liverpool look to improve on last summer with double free transfer

Liverpool appear to be on the verge of a second signing in a matter of days, both being free agents and both being English.

On Thursday the club announced the signing of James Milner on a free from Manchester City while it has been reported that their second signing is all but complete in the form of Burnley's key player this season Danny Ings.

But really is this what Liverpool really need? Brendan Rodgers has faced much scrutiny for his acquisitions in the past, but free transfers surely can't fail given the amount of money seemingly wasted a year ago.

With the likely departures of Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini, and of course the lengthy injury of their main striker Daniel Sturridge, Liverpool currently have one striker that will be playable come next season and that's Mario Balotelli. So Danny Ings, to answer the question, would be much needed.

He's young, he's English, he's proved he can score goals in an under performing team. So I'm sure playing along side the likes of Coutinho and Sturridge will only enhance his level of performance.
